December 31st, 2010 Friday 5 for December 31: Saving

Ok, I am going to try to get back into doing the Friday 5 from Friday5.org. I hope y’all enjoy and if you do this one too post your link in the comments so I can check them out.♥

  1. When dining out, do you usually save room for dessert? Depends on where I am eating. Usually, no.
  2. How do you feel about saving places in line or saving seats in theaters? It all depends again. If the movie is likely to sell out then no saving, it is not fair to the people who got there on time and together, but if there is no risk of it selling out then it is fine.
  3. What’s one thing you did to save money this past year? I cut back some of my subscriptions I don’t use so much.
  4. Besides money, what’s something you’re saving for later? I am saving for some more makeup (like I really need more lol) and maybe a newer camera. I did just get a new HD camera but it is fixed focus. I do love it but I hope in this next year to save up for one with auto focus. I also want to save up for a little netbook like my moms.
  5. In what way did you recently save the best for last? When I get muffins I eat the top last and with cake I save the frosting for last.
December 30th, 2010 Things to Come

I got a bunch of new makeup for Christmas and placed several large ELF orders so I have plenty of stuff to review. I will be comparing UDPP to the Hard Candy Eyeshadow Primer, the HCEP to something I think may be similar (more on this after I do some experiments), the ELF 100 pallet to the Manly 120 pallet, and the ELF mist set stuff to the Ben Nye mist set stuff (I will fill in the proper names when I look at them later), and whether the ELF Mineral Primer really makes my mineral foundation stay better.

Please let me know if there are any ELF products you want reviewed. I have a good sized collection of their stuff, some hits, some misses.   I also have some of the Hard Candy stuff to review.

December 28th, 2010 New Direction

Soon I will be changing this over to a beauty blog. I posted this before but I think that post got eaten when I upgraded my wordpress. Anyway, after the first of the year I will be posting reviews, tutorial, sales, etc. For now I will leave you with a  link to a cool give away: http://ladycrowx.blogspot.com/2010/12/happy-holiday-giveaway.html

Check out her stuff. She seems pretty cool.

August 15th, 2008 Friday 5: Disposal
  1. What did you last replace batteries for? Hmmm, almost everything I have now is rechargeable. I think the last thing I changed batteries in was a book light.
  2. What have you thrown away that you probably could have had repaired? I don’t throw away anything that can be fixed. If I don’t want it I either put it up on Freecycle or I donate it to a thrift store.
  3. Among items in your line of sight right now, what should probably be put in the trash? Well there is a fan box that really should go.
  4. When did you last use disposable cutlery while dining in your house? We usually don’t use disposable cutlery here. When we do happen to use them we wash and reuse them as long as we can. I am a big believer in the “My Hashi” movement. Right now it is mainly in Japan and China but I think it’s time has come here as well.
  5. Whose actions cause you to waste time you otherwise wouldn’t waste? I’m really not sure. Time is the biggest thing I waste.
August 4th, 2008 Moving and Friday 5

As you may have noticed (if there even is a “you” as I doubt anyone reads this) last Friday there was no Friday 5 and this week is late. I have been moving. On the way to my new place I was seriously injured and now have a huge gash in my side that has to be tended to. Otherwise the move went relatively well. Yeah, just about everything that could go wrong did, but we are moved and basically in one piece. The new place is taking a little getting used to but we like it. Anyway, on to the 5 now…

  1. Of television programs that aired before you were born, what’s your favorite? Hmmmm, only one? Mr. Ed is the first that pops into my head.
  2. What person of historical significance was from your neighborhood or city? George E. Ohr, artist who broke new ground in the late 1890s with his experimental modern clay forms
  3. What’s a story that’s often been told about someone in your family in the years before you came along? Oh my! There are so many! My family carries on a strong oral tradition so I was told many stories about my ancestors.
  4. Which of previous generations’ dumb mistakes (in deed or thought) baffles you the most? The witch trials. How so many people could be so hateful, brutal, and stupid truly baffles me.
  5. What aspect of life in the good old days would you love to see a return to? Courtships. I am a hopeless romantic and really wish I would have been around in the days when girls were asked to wear a boys pin and such.
July 18th, 2008 Friday 5 – Bad Food
  1. What was the last meal that caused you to be ill? Bratwursts. It was Nick’s first time making them and it turned out that he didn’t properly cook them.
  2. Are there any places you never dine anymore because of a bad experience hours after the meal? Cheeseburger in Paradise – we technically never ate there. We had gone but because of the rudeness of the hostesses we left and never went back. I am in a wheelchair and they would not let us open the non-revolving door so I could get in, all the while the hostesses were pointing and giggling at me. I wanted to pop their empty little blond heads off their bodies and go bowling with them.
  3. What’s your prescription for dealing with a food-caused illness? Imodium-AD!
  4. When friends tell you about coming down with food-caused illnesses, do you avoid the places they name, or do you figure it’s a dice-roll wherever you go? Depends on the friend. Some of my friends are more sensitive than others. I would be cautious though.
  5. After numerous citations, a very, very popular restaurant that you’re quite fond of is shut down by the health department until it can get everything up to code. When the health department gives the restaurant the o.k. to reopen, do you go? Yes. If I never had a problem with them then I would go back. Some health code violations have nothing to do with how the food is handled. Plus, if I ate there when they weren’t up to code why wouldn’t I eat there after?
July 15th, 2008 Friday Five (better late than never)

Ages ago when I blogged on Xanga and such I used to do the Friday Five. That way I always had at least one post a week so everyone would know that I am still around. Anyway, I am going to start doing that again here. I am going to start with last Friday’s questions (July 11th) so that I can start now instead of waiting until Friday. The Friday Five I do are from Friday5.org but I may do some from some other sites too. If I do, I will post the site so you can find them

  1. What are some recurring dreams you’ve had? Oh my! I have had many of them. I guess the oldest recurring dream I have had since I was a small child an still have now is about the “man with the honey-dipped teeth” chasing me.
  2. What is the significance of dreams in telling you about yourself? I have a lot of dreams that help me solve things in my waking life. I have often dreamed of bits of code for my pages and such. I guess even in my sleep I am a problem solver. Hmm, is that actually the answer that question wanted? Oh well! ~lol~
  3. How do you feel after you’ve had one of THOSE dreams? Those dreams? As in sex dreams? Hmmm, well I usually feel all warm and cozy I guess. I am a snuggeler, even in my dreams. :D
  4. What was the last dream you remember? I usually remember my dreams every night.
  5. When did you last dream about something that later happened as you dreamt it? I often have dreams that later happen, though it is always mundane things, bits of conversation, something I see on tv, just little things but it happens often.
June 12th, 2008 Blarg

Hmmm, I’m just kinda bored right now. I am trying to write more often so I figure I should post when I think about it. The problem with that is trying to find something to say that is not bento related. Oh, I recently found some great plushie tutorials on deviantart that I hope to try soon. Josh and Wendy are moving up soon, less than 2 weeks now. Things are getting stressful for Wendy and I can understand that. Once they get up here Josh is going to try to find ways to get me out more often and that will be great. ~lol~ I will have more to talk about then I hope.

May 24th, 2008 Moving Boxes… Bento Boxes

Yup, it is true, I now have a blog just for bentos. You can find it at bento.raynesworld.net. Now I can focus this blog on all other aspects of my life.

We will be moving soon. We got a letter the other day telling us that this building will be torn down on August 1st. They are going to help us move and as soon as the new buildings are finished we will have first dibs on a new place. Mid-June Josh and Wendy will be moving up here so we are going to just look for a bigger house for all of us.

Well, that is all the non-bento news for now :D

May 24th, 2008 Guess what! No.. go ahead… guess! Yup, you got it, more BENTOS!

I just got in 2 new bento sets from Ichiban Kan today plus some new accessories. I am going to wait until my next shipment on the 28th before I start taking pictures. I will bu putting them up soon. I have also found a place on eBay where I can get the Animal Click oshibori cloths so I will be getting those soon. I also ordered a green Hello Kitty bento today on eBay. I am trying to set up a more bento-centric blog on my other domain so I can keep my bento news separate from my other stuff as I am sure if there is anyone out there reading you may be getting sick of my bento posts. When I get that done I will post a link to there and then this will go back to being a standard blog with craft stuffs.

(I wrote this post 3 days ago but forgot to click publish. The actual post date should be May 21, 2008)
